This special evening we recognized our Pike teachers for excellence in service to our students with food, door prizes, live music, and much more. New grant recipients were announced, and awards were presented. |

Even though it rained, our Fore! Education Golf Outing was still a great success this year. All proceeds from the golf outing will go toward the Foundation’s programs to benefit Pike Township students. Please join us again next year, and we'll hope for better weather! |

Congratulations to outstanding Pike teacher and receipient of this year's Champion Teacher Award, Jeffrey Burchfield of Pike High School. Congratulations to Dan Christian of New August Public Academy North who was recognized as Teacher of the Year, a distinct honor given to a certified teacher who is nominated and selected by his or her peers. |

A new page about the Board of Education Candidates Forum was added to our web site. This year, four at-large seats are available. Brownell Payne and Ricky Hence will join Larry Grau, board president Larry Metzler, and Nancy Poore on the ballot. One board member, Deborah Williams, will not be running for re-election. Please join us for the Candidates Forum where you can get to know the candidates running for the Pike School Board. This important event will be held at 7:00pm, Monday April 28, Central Elementary School. Child care will be provided free of charge for children ages 3 and older. Election day is May 6. |

We have expanded our Pike's Greatest Students program to include both first and second semesters. This program is a great way for parents, grandparents, and relatives to let their student know why they think he or she is Pike’s greatest student and to help support the PTEF at the same time. With a donation in honor of your Pike students, the PTEF will send your special personal message and a small gift to the student at school! Your message and gift will be delivered to the student during the last week of the semester. Because relatives can register and send their donation online, this program is an excellent way for out of town relatives to send a special gift to a special Pike student! |

The PTEF hosted its ninth annual FORE! Education Golf Tournament at the Golf Club of Indiana, and the event was a huge success! Thanks to all of our corporate sponsors, as well as those who participated! Pike administrators, vendors and golfers turned out for an entertaining day of golf and prizes. Corporate sponsors, hole sponsors and golfers helped raise funds for grants and scholarships that will benefit Pike Township Schools. Registration is now open for the Foundation’s tenth annual FORE! Education Golf Outing scheduled for June, 2008 at the Golf Club of Indiana. Contact the Foundation to purchase a foursome, sponsor a hole, or donate prizes. |

The PTEF recognized teachers for perfect attendance, length of service, and excellence in service to Pike Township Schools and its students at this year's Celebrations Awards Banquet. Five people were presented awards for 30 years of service to the Pike Township School District, and another five for 35 years of service. Guests were treated to an elegant dinner, door prizes, live music, and raffle items. New grant recipients were announced, and PTEF honored an outstanding Pike teacher with the Champion Teacher Award. The Champion Teacher this year was Ginny Allen of Guion Creek Elementary School, and she received a plaque and a check for $500 from the Foundation. We also recognized Daniel Kuznik of the Pike Freshman Center, the recipient of the Teacher of the Year Award, a distinct honor given annually to a certified teacher who is nominated and selected by his peers. The recipient of the Teacher of the Year award also received $500 from the Foundation. |

The deadline for PTEF scholarships was March 2. Over $15,000 was awarded to students for scholarships during the 2006/07 year, including six PTEF Hallmark of Excellence scholarships ($1000 each), six Academy Scholarships ($500 each), the Academic Perseverance Scholarship ($750), the Overcoming Obstacles Scholarship ($750), the Richard H. Crosser Memorial Scholarship ($1000), two Pacers Academy High School Scholarships ($1000 each), the Walter S. Moll Memorial Scholarship ($500), and the “Private Donor? Scholarship ($2500). Congratulations to all of our scholarship recipients! |

Our annual Treasures for Education Dinner and Auction was the most successful in the history of the PTEF thanks to all of our donors and participants! Treasures for Education is a semiformal auction/dinner evening event. Initiated in 1996, this fund-raiser has been very successful, and this year's raised the most money for Pike students than any previous event. Held at the Union Federal Football Center (the Indianapolis Colts Pavilion), the event included both a silent and live auction. This year's emcees were Clyde Lee and Diane Willis. Auction items included jewelry, a football autographed by Dallas Clark, a wine rack filled with fine wines, A basketball autographed by Larry Bird, a catered party, and much, much more! The next Treasures for Education auction will be held in February of 2008. We hope you to see you there! Contact the Foundation for a formal invitation or to donate goods and services for next year's auction. |

We have reached the deadline for the Fall grant cycle, and are no longer accepting applications for our Fall grants. We received many excellent grants applications this year! Applicants may now apply for grants which will be awarded in the Spring. The deadline for Spring grant applications is March 9, 2007. |
